The Wild West

BYU declares Independence? I guess so. It honestly makes sense, in a Notre Dame kind of way. It's most likely football independence, with the rest of BYU's sports going to the WAC, and would do the Cougs well since they've been passed over by the big leagues. Twice. While they won't get the love that the Irish get with AQ-bids and scheduling, they had to do something to compete with the boost Utah got when the Utes joined the PAC-1o.

Now the Mountain West has responded: It's official that the conference has invited Fresno State and Nevada to join the league. That's on top of Boise State already agreeing to join back during round one of this shit in June. Neither the Wolfpack nor the Bulldogs have accepted the invite, maybe due to the newly signed agreement that any team leaving the WAC has tom pay $5mil (what?!).

The next question? What does the WAC do? They'd be down to six teams and you have to have at least eight teams to be a conference. Hey, I hear BYU football might be available by then...
