It took five years, but Ace Journeyman finally won a bowl game. His Wolfpack closed out the homestretch of 2014 in style, trouncing #25 Fresno State, 45-24 and pounding rival New Mexico, 38-17. The 11-1 record was enough to earn an invite to the Emerald Bowl, where Nevada met the Trojans of USC. While the Men of Troy were coming off a down season (7-5), many predicted Journeyman's streak of bowl losses would continue in the face of the sheer talent and athleticism of USC. In the end, though, it was a series of gutsy coaching calls and offensive adjustments that secured the win, 27-24. The bowl victory is not the only high note of this happy ending either: Journeyman has put together the best recruiting class in Wolfpack history, securing 5 4-star recruits already, with a couple 5-stars possibly on the way. Among all the success, though, is a creeping doubt. The fans in Reno aren't suspicious of Journeyman's talents - he's more than proven them - they're worried about his loyalty. Rumors are swirling that bigger programs are chomping at the bit to lure away the young coach. So, while the bowl season finishes out, Wolfpack nation is in wait-and-see mode...
